Kalodata Alternative: When Raw TikTok Shop Data Beats a Dashboard (and When It Doesn't)
First, so you can weigh everything below: we make SociaVault, which sells raw TikTok Shop data through an API. So we have a horse in this race. We've tried to write the comparison we'd want to read if we were the ones choosing, including the parts where Kalodata is plainly the better pick.
The short version is that these aren't really the same kind of product. Kalodata is a research tool. It tells you what's selling and roughly how much it's earning, with months of history ready the moment you sign up. We give you the raw public data, and you decide what to do with it. Which one you want depends almost entirely on whether you need answers or ingredients.
What Kalodata actually is
Kalodata is a TikTok Shop analytics platform run by Kalowave Technology in Hong Kong. It ranks products, shops, creators, videos and livestreams, and estimates sales and revenue for them. Its estimates come from public data refined with AI models, and Kalodata itself says the figures are estimates that may differ from real numbers.
It now has two ways in:
- The web app, with dashboards, rankings and trend charts.
- An API, launched in 2026. According to Kalodata's own blog, it covers six modules (category, shop, creator, product, video and livestream) across 15 TikTok Shop markets, with ranking endpoints and detail endpoints that return JSON. It's billed in credits.
That second point matters if you came here searching "Kalodata API". It exists. If what you want is Kalodata's revenue estimates and rankings inside your own code, the most direct answer is Kalodata's own API, not an alternative.
What it costs
Kalodata's published plans, as reported from its own 2026 pricing in October 2026:
| Plan | Price | Daily limits | History |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $45.90/month | 50 searches, 100 detail pages | 90 days |
| Professional | $99.90/month | 250 searches, 500 detail pages | 180 days |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
There's a 7-day free trial with no card. Some app store listings show higher prices for the same tiers, so check the pricing page in your region before you budget. API usage is billed separately in Kalodata credits, and we couldn't find a public per-credit price, so we won't guess one.
SociaVault is priced differently: you buy credits once and they don't expire. Starter is $29 for 6,000 credits, and every TikTok Shop request costs one credit. There's no monthly fee.
Where Kalodata wins
We'll start here, because it's the part a vendor comparison usually skips.
- History from day one. Kalodata claims up to 1,000 days of history, and paid plans give you 90 or 180 days of it immediately. Raw data can't do that. If you start tracking a product today, your history starts today.
- Revenue estimates done for you. Kalodata models sales and revenue. We return what TikTok shows on the listing, and turning that into revenue is your job.
- Rankings across a whole market. "Top 100 beauty products in the US this week" is one click in Kalodata. With raw data you'd have to decide what to sample and build the ranking yourself.
- Creators, livestreams and ads tied to products. Kalodata links a product to the creators and lives that sold it. We have separate endpoints for TikTok profiles, videos and the ad library, but connecting them to shop sales is up to you.
- No code. If nobody on your team writes code, this comparison is over. Use Kalodata.
Where raw data wins
- You own the numbers. Every snapshot you take is yours, in your own database, in whatever shape you want. You can join it with your own sales data, which no dashboard will do for you.
- Real figures, not modelled ones. The sold count we return is the number TikTok displays on the listing, not a model's estimate. It's a running total, so it tells you less on its own, but nothing about it is inferred.
- Pay per request, not per month. Light or seasonal research is far cheaper when you aren't paying a subscription in the quiet months.
- Full review text.
/tiktok-shop/product-reviewsreturns the reviews themselves, which is what you want for finding product complaints before you source a competitor. - One key for more than TikTok Shop. The same credits pull TikTok videos and profiles, Instagram, YouTube and the rest. Useful if TikTok Shop is one input into a wider picture.
What the raw data looks like
We searched TikTok Shop for "lip oil" in the US while writing this. One request returned 30 products. A few of them, with the running sold count the listing showed that day:
| Product | Price | Sold |
|---|---|---|
| Nooni Korean Apple Lip Oil + Lip Stain | $10.49 | 335,130 |
| e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil | $9.00 | 226,384 |
| Colour Spell High Gloss Lip Oil | $3.50 | 3,177 |
| Ailan Beauty Color Changing Lip Oil | $5.73 | 50 |
Two honest notes from that same response. One product came back with no sold count at all. And the review counts on the search results were empty, even though the full review data is available per product. So read every field defensively. Raw data is raw.
The bigger point: 335,130 sold is a lifetime total. It doesn't tell you whether the product is hot right now or peaked last spring. For that, you need the same number on two different days.
Building your own sales tracker
This is the core of doing it yourself. Snapshot the sold count on a schedule, and the difference between snapshots is how many units sold in between.
const API = "https://api.sociavault.com/v1/scrape/tiktok-shop";
const KEY = process.env.SOCIAVAULT_API_KEY;
const toArray = (x) => (Array.isArray(x) ? x : x ? Object.values(x) : []);
// One snapshot: every product a keyword search returns today.
async function snapshot(query, region = "US") {
const params = new URLSearchParams({ query, region });
const res = await fetch(`${API}/search?${params}`, { headers: { "x-api-key": KEY } });
const body = await res.json();
if (body?.error) throw new Error(body.error);
const takenAt = new Date().toISOString();
return toArray(body.data?.products).map((p) => ({
takenAt,
productId: String(p.product_id),
title: p.title ?? "",
shop: p.seller_info?.shop_name ?? null,
price: Number(p.product_price_info?.sale_price_decimal ?? NaN),
sold: p.sold_info?.sold_count ?? null, // sometimes missing
}));
}
// Compare two snapshots of the same search.
function velocity(earlier, later) {
const before = new Map(earlier.map((r) => [r.productId, r]));
const days = (new Date(later[0].takenAt) - new Date(earlier[0].takenAt)) / 86400000;
return later
.map((now) => {
const then = before.get(now.productId);
if (!then || then.sold == null || now.sold == null) return null;
const units = now.sold - then.sold;
return {
title: now.title,
unitsPerDay: Math.round(units / days),
// An estimate: price changes and discounts during the window aren't captured.
estRevenue: Math.round(units * now.price),
};
})
.filter(Boolean)
.sort((a, b) => b.unitsPerDay - a.unitsPerDay);
}
The Python equivalent:
import os, requests
from datetime import datetime, timezone
API = "https://api.sociavault.com/v1/scrape/tiktok-shop"
HEADERS = {"x-api-key": os.environ["SOCIAVAULT_API_KEY"]}
def to_list(x):
return x if isinstance(x, list) else list((x or {}).values())
def snapshot(query, region="US"):
body = requests.get(f"{API}/search", params={"query": query, "region": region},
headers=HEADERS, timeout=120).json()
if body.get("error"):
raise RuntimeError(body["error"])
taken_at = datetime.now(timezone.utc).isoformat()
return [{
"taken_at": taken_at,
"product_id": str(p.get("product_id")),
"title": p.get("title", ""),
"price": float((p.get("product_price_info") or {}).get("sale_price_decimal") or "nan"),
"sold": (p.get("sold_info") or {}).get("sold_count"),
} for p in to_list((body.get("data") or {}).get("products"))]
Run snapshot once a day for each keyword, save the rows, and run velocity over yesterday and today. Within a week you'll have a ranking of what's actually moving in your niche, built from numbers you can check against the listing. Store product IDs as strings, by the way. They're too long for JavaScript numbers to hold exactly.
To go deeper on a product that shows up, /tiktok-shop/product-details takes the product url and returns the shop, its performance and related videos. /tiktok-shop/products takes a shop url and lists everything that shop sells, which is how you'd watch a competitor's whole catalogue. We walk through more of this in TikTok Shop analytics with sales and revenue data and the product research guide.
What it costs to run
Each request is one credit.
| Tracking | Requests a month | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 10 keywords, daily | about 300 | covered by a $29 pack for over a year |
| 50 keywords, daily | about 1,500 | about four months per $29 pack |
| 20 competitor shops, daily | about 600 | about ten months per $29 pack |
Compare that with Kalodata's $45.90 a month. For steady, focused tracking, raw data is cheaper by a wide margin. But remember what you're not getting for that money: the history, the market-wide rankings and the revenue model. If you'd spend a week building what Kalodata already shows you, the subscription is probably the better deal.
How to choose
Choose Kalodata if you want to know what's selling across a whole market today, you need historical trends immediately, you want revenue estimates without building anything, or nobody on your team writes code.
Choose Kalodata's API if you want Kalodata's estimates and rankings inside your own product.
Choose a raw data API if you're tracking a specific set of products, shops or keywords, you want the actual listing numbers in your own database, you need full review text, or your research is light enough that a monthly subscription is overkill.
Plenty of teams use both: Kalodata to spot opportunities, raw data to track the handful that matter in detail.
The honest limits of doing it yourself
- No back history. Your trend data starts on the day you start collecting. There's no way to fetch last quarter's sold counts.
- Revenue is an estimate either way. Units sold times today's price ignores discounts, price changes and returns. Label it as an estimate.
- Search results are a sample. A keyword search returns a page of products, not every product in a category. Coverage depends on the keywords you choose.
- Fields go missing. In our test, one product had no sold count. Your code needs to survive that.
- Public data only. Neither approach sees a seller's private dashboard: conversion rates, ad spend and returns stay with the seller.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kalodata have an API?
Yes. Kalodata launched an API in 2026 covering categories, shops, creators, products, videos and livestreams across 15 markets, billed in Kalodata credits. If you want Kalodata's own estimates in your code, that's the direct option.
How much does Kalodata cost?
Kalodata's published 2026 plans are $45.90 a month for Starter and $99.90 a month for Professional, with custom Enterprise pricing and a 7-day free trial. Prices vary by region and app store, so check before you commit.
Is Kalodata's sales data accurate?
Kalodata describes its sales and revenue figures as estimates from public data and AI models, and advises against using them where you need exact numbers. Treat them as directional.
Can I get TikTok Shop sales data without Kalodata?
Yes. A raw data API returns the sold count, price, shop and reviews TikTok shows on each listing. Snapshot the sold count over time and the difference gives you units sold in that window.
What's the cheapest way to track TikTok Shop products?
For a fixed list of products or keywords, scheduled snapshots through a pay-per-request API are usually cheapest. Tracking ten keywords daily is about 300 requests a month.
Should I use Kalodata or build my own tracker?
Use Kalodata for market-wide discovery, instant history and ready-made revenue estimates. Build your own when you're tracking specific products in depth, want the raw numbers in your own systems, or don't want a monthly subscription.
Want to see the raw data before deciding? Sign up for 50 free credits, no card needed, and run a search for a product in your niche. You'll know within a few minutes whether raw data or a dashboard fits how you work.
